24x36 cutting mat. got it from amazon for a tidy $34.15. got it in 2 days. it's sitting pretty in the backseat of my car since friday.

wish list redux
the first quarter of 2011 is over. let's re-examine my wishlist, shall we?
1. dress form - GET. although, not a singer diana. i will still call her diana.
2. serger - no.
3. a ginormous self healing cutting mat - no.
4. pinking shears - GET.
5. edged quilting ruler - no.
6. tailor's ham and seam roll - yeah...still have not made them. need sawdust!
7. more shelving spaces & work space - i wish. the bf did get me a mini chest of drawers from his old neighbor. teak. super freakin heavy for its small size. i use it to store some notions.
8. an uber quality steam iron with auto shut-off instead of my cheapo black and decker one that i accidentally left on for 4 hours + when i went out. the apartment was really warm when i came back. also, possible fire hazard - GET. thing is, now i kind of hate the auto shut-off. LOL. but it steams SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well! just a black & decker steam advantage i bought on a whim (read: without research) from walmart. less than 20 bucks. though, now i'm looking online, and i really should have gotten a retractable cord one for easy transport. BECAUSE I'M ALWAYS CARRYING AN IRON WITH ME EVERYWHEREZ. (lie).
ETA: omg that's 4/8 things on the list! i am doing so freakin well! however, the serger will stay on the list for a few seasons, because i really want the babylock model that costs.......... over $1,000. maybe next year...maybe!

holiday wish list
let's talk about my holiday wish list, i.e., stuff i'm saving up moneys for, aka november, 2011 (my car loan maturity rate) cannot come soon enough. seriously by then i would have an extra 400 bucks a month to splurge on fabrics. mmmmmmm silk organza and french lace............onwards!
1. singer "diana" dress form - i will also call her diana
2. serger - i don't know how to use sergers and i don't know which models are reputable/easy to use. but i want one.
3. a ginormous self healing cutting mat. this one is pretty easy to get. but right now i don't have the space for it.
4. pinking shears - also easy to get but i'm pacing myself.
5. edged quilting ruler - probably should start here
6. tailor's ham and seam roll - i really need to just sit down and make them. but i read in different places that you use different stuffing for tailor's ham (sawdust v. scraps of fabric). where the hell do i get sawdust? (not resourceful at all.)

8. MOST IMPORTANTLY - kick brendan out of his office/the sunroom and rename it Sewing Lair.

10. not sewing related but i would like a wacom tablet. the bigger the better. TEEHEEEEEEHEEEHEEEE.
